Relocation time line:
November 2007: Luqman born. After mom left felt depressed and started to wish upon returning to
Malaysia.
Eid ul Fitri 2008: Got to know some Malaysians in Croydon and they made me more sure that I have
to go back to Malaysia. However, still a dream at this point.
Early 2009 : The idea of going back becoming stronger. Started to envisage things.
September 2009: Planned to go back but things were too hectic. Prayed istiharah many times and
answers were good, Alhamdulillah.
7 Dec 2009 : Got on a plane and left for Malaysia with the four children. So very excited.
10 Dec 2009 : The first seeds of doubt started to creep in. What am I doing here?
11 Dec 2009 : First encounter with Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Never dealt with them
before. It was so strange.
12 Dec 2009 : Experiencing family life with parents, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunties. Missed all
of this experience, so happy!
14 Dec 2009 : UK blues kicked in. Missing hubby and previous life. Didn't like the change.
15 Dec 2009 : First time met up with primary care lecturers from UiTM at Shah Alam campus.
Interesting, lots to ponder on. Luqman became ill with high fever.
19 Dec 2009 : Luqman better.
20 Dec 2009 : Went to look at different schools for the kids.
23 Dec 2009 : Went to meet someone at Hospital Pusrawi.
24 Dec 2009 : Went for interview at UiTM Shah Alam. Got job offer at night. Went to Kementerian
Dalam Negeri to get letter for kid's citizenship. Had to wait a long time but they could
not find the letter and told to wait for phone call.
29 Dec 2009 : Went to Jabatan Pelajaran KL to register kids for school but told there was a problem
30 Dec 2009 : Finally the kids citizenship is settled but school still not settled
2 January 2010 : Went to new house to clean up the place ready to move in.
5 January 2010 : Drove for first time in Malaysia since returning home this time. Went to sort out kids
school. Getting all stressed out with bureaucracy and crazy forms to be filled.
12 January 2010: Interview at Hospital Pusrawi. Still waiting for offer letter from UiTM.
16 January 2010: Hubby arrived in Malaysia to join us. :)
19 January 2010: Applied for social visa for the babies. Again forms! forms! forms! and waiting...
24 January 2010: Truly love Saturdays because all the government offices are closed and I do not
need to worry about anything.
25 January 2010: Went to Singapore for cousin's wedding. I love seeing all my cousins, aunts and
uncles again!
26 January 2010: Left mom and dad's house and moved into own apartment. It was so empty.
27 January 2010: Applied for the kids school.
29 January 2010: Kids started school today at Sek. Keb. Totally stressed out. Everything was so hard
everyone is so unhelpful including bus drivers. Nobody wants to take my kids to
school! finally got a van driver.
1 February 2010: Felt lonely and missing mom, now that we're staying on our own.
2 February 2010: Finding Malaysia a very difficult place to live and adjust to. Just can't understand
what is going on and why people behave the way they do? Missing all my friends
in the UK. Really felt like packing and leaving.
3 February 2010: Luqy had an accident. Went to Hospital Kuala Lumpur and he was diagnosed with
a sprain.
9 February 2010: Shipping from UK finally arrived after months of not knowing what happened to
all our stuff. Hooray! can watch TV at last!
11 February 2010: Kids not doing too well settling down in Malaysia. They still can't speak Malay.
17 February 2010: Went to stay at mom's and leaving hubby with the kids. :)
27 February 2010: Still waiting for the offer letter. Savings running low... in a very dark dark place.
All I could do was to pray to Allah SWT for help and rizk.
8 March 2010 : Visited Ministry of Health to apply for job, just in case.
9 March 2010 : Hospital Pusrawi offered me a job, was going to accept and to start in a few days
but in my dream I would get my letter from UiTM. Get those 'vision' dreams and so
far they have never lied to me...
11 March 2010 : Finally got a call from Encik Huzaifah and went to pick up my offer letter from
UiTM. I am going to start my dream job in a dream place. I love UiTM!
18 March 2010 : My first day at work. Alhamdulillah. Went round with Ng to visit all the different
campus and clinics.
27 March 2010 : Got a maid.
3 April 2010 : My first teaching session for year four medical students on contraception. Went out
for lunch with primary care lecturers at Johnny's to celebrate my becoming part
of the team.
5 April 2010 : Borrowed car went missing. Got towed away from Sungai Buloh Health Clinic
because the owner did not pay the banks. What a day! Things can't get any
worse but glad I had such helpful colleagues. Borrowed mom's car instead.
12 April 2010 : Went to KLCC with hubby and kids to meet up with our friend from UK. Such
great fun and chat!
17 April 2010 : Volunteered to take blood for Pure Rus study at Desa Coldfield.
6 May 2010 : Just still trying to get used to lecturing and the job but enjoying my work.
8 May 2010 : Went to Berjaya Times Square and went on a roller coaster ride for the first time
in my whole entire life with Fajar. It was cool but never again, thanks!
June 2010 : Started to prepare for my exams in December. Got my Avanza, my baby!
Went on a trip to Kuantan, Pahang with hubby and kids. Stayed at Cherating.
It was like living in a dream.
22 June 2010 : Went for Basic life support course at Selayang Hospital. Can't remember exactly
but my friend from Croydon Nita returned to Malaysia. Hooray!
7 August 2010 : Involved in student's 'gotong-royong' day. Was just one of the judge.
9 September 2010 : First Eid ul Fitri at Malaysia.
10 November 2010 : Selayang UiTM Specialist clinic and got friends to help me with
practicing my communication skills for an examination.
12 - 14 Nov 2010 : Went to Brunei and stayed with a good friend of mine Izan
7 December 2010 : Can't believe it has been one year since our relocation.
15 December 2010 : Trip to Malacca with hubby and kids. Stayed with friends Sis Nura and hubby
Mohsin. Also met up with Zu and Mustafa.
24 December 2010 : Went to Jeli, Kelantan with Malik for pure rus study.
February 2011 : Went back to UK for two weeks to settle things and to see if I want to move
back to UK. Still not sure about settling in Malaysia. Still keeping my GMC
license to practice.
March 2011 : Trip to Pulau Kapas and Terengganu with hubby and kids. Lovely time
Alhamdulillah.
April 2011 : Fajar preparing for UPSR this year.
24 May 2011 : Involved in world hypertension day. Took blood from patients.
3 June 2011 : Went to Pusat Sains Negara with hubby and kids and had lunch at Wadi
al Hadramawt.
21-30 June 2011 : Spent 10 miserable days at Kampung Gajah for Induksi umum, away from my
babies. Missed them terribly and felt so bored.
4 July 2011 : Back to work. A friend left UiTM Selayang clinic. So sad. Will always
miss you.
7 July 2011 : Involved in Well woman's day organized by O&G.
28 - 30 July 2011 : Spent three days at Port Dickson Research Colloquium. After the 2nd day
missed the kids terribly.
1 August 2011 : First day of Ramadhan. Still having internal struggles about staying in Malaysia.
1 September 2011 : Eid ul Fitri. Stayed at mom's house. Very difficult time but had fun too celebrating
Raya for a month going from one open house to another.
4 September 2011 : My Luqy has high temperature. Worried about something more serious like
Dengue but Alhamdulillah he got better.
12 - 15 Sept 2011 : Fajar UPSR. She's getting good with her Malay. Kids now able to understand
Malay and speak the language but not fluently.
27 September 2011 : Went out with friends farewell party for dear colleague leaving our team.
We all miss you very much.
26 October 2011 : Went out with mates to Red Box Sunway Pyramid and sang heart out! :)
29 October 2011 : Went to Ketereh, Kelantan for Pure Rus study with Mye and Ng. Had a
wonderful time and met great people.
3 November 2011 : Went again to Kota Bharu, Kelantan and stayed at Renaissance to observe
Masters examinations.
8 November 2011 : Went bowling with hubby and kids. As usual, hubby won :(
11 November 2011 : Went to Seremban for CDM training session as a research co investigator.
12 November 2011 : Cousin wedding at Sepang. Met up with my Teluk Intan cousins. Fellow
Perakians.
16 November 2011 : Clinic Warga Emas, Shah Alam. Had dinner with Boss Dato' and research team.
19 November 2011 : The day I truly felt settled in Malaysia and was 100% sure, almost that I am
staying here and not running away to UK. Nope! I'm not running away again.
Time to settle down for good inshaAllah. Been running away for too long.
24 November 2011 : Hubby and my girls went to UK leaving me and the boys. sob! sob!
26 November 2011: Drove to Sungai Patani, Kedah with daddy to pick up my nieces and nephews
stayed there one night. Cool!
1 - 3 Dec 2011 : Holiday with my boys at Water Chalet, Avillion Port Dickson. It was beautiful.
December 2011 : Life's a mess, waiting for hubby to come back with the girls.
7 December 2011 : Been in Malaysia for 2 years. Friend once said it took her two years to settle
in Malaysia. She's right! I'm settled and went through everything that everyone
goes through relocating back in this country including losing myself and finding
myself again.
21 December 2011: Hubby came back from UK. We are a complete family again.
January 2012 : Kids start school again. Fajar got 5As UPSR and got into a good school.
Everything looking good so far. Me soon to be confirmed and finally found a
place where I belong. Finally found my niche. Just a few unsettled feelings and
dissatisfaction.
January 2012 : Changed my GMC status from license to registration only. A step in the right
direction. Looks like I'm staying here for good but this year is the election so,
if things go down hill, hurmm... not sure.
29 Jan 2012 : Annual dinner with close friends from Sri Aman at Seafood restaurant, Subang. Had
a great time!
30 - 31 Jan 2012 : Went to two birthday parties in a row. Birthday party one was 'angry bird' theme
and kids entertained by a clown. Birthday party two was a pool party and kids
were entertained by a magician. My kids are getting so spoilt!
10 - 12 Feb 2012 : Malaysian society of Hypertension 9th annual scientific meeting at Shangri-La
Hotel. My very first poster presentation title "Anti hypertensive prescribing
practice in a specialist primary care clinic: is it according to current guidelines."
Okay! didn't win anything but I'm still happy with the poster and the talks and the
food.
24 Feb 2012 : Went to Fomema Sdn Bhd at Pusat Bandar Damansara. Time to renew maid
visa already! the process was quick and efficient.
25 Feb 2012 : The Malaysian women married to 'orang putih' club had our gathering today. Great
to meet up with those who understand and are in similar situation. Just a handful
of friends who came back to Malaysia at the same time with us. Don't know if
laughing so much is good or bad for health.
